IDEOLOGY MARXISM: Flashback to a time not too long ago. Haven had forgotten the basis on which the Soviet Union existed. They legitimized their rights to rule over all their territories, not caring even though their policies were wrong and unpopular. Its rulers and the majority of its people embraced their party, calling it enlightened. Not so long ago after the Russian Civil War, the Soviet Union pushed for a one-party state, thereby establishing itself as a Communist Party. The dictator Lenin implemented socialist policies, resulting in a new economic policy, allowing for market-oriented reforms, which was the highlight of its time. The once aggressive Soviet Union and all its colonies were once deemed superior to all others causing the Cold War. We here in America have always detested Communists, even the mere word spoken would be offensive to our people and leaders, still is. Ukraine's Soviet Socialist Republic, which it was named at the time, a constituent Republic of the Soviet Union, formed in 1922, enjoys its association and affiliation with its inherited motherland. After the Soviet Union dissolved, Ukraine gained its independence in 1991 and declared itself neutral. However, that is also left to be seen, the indigenous inhabitants and the majority count. The philosophy of now independent Ukraine remains as a dominant people, wishing to free itself to be as strong as they were before. A separation from the motherland is there to struggle, however, America is showering Ukraine with billions of dollars of its wealth, not smart at all, while our people are mostly homeless on the streets, right here in its backyard. Can a leopard change its spots, Ukraines may someday long for the good old Russian days, then what will America do? Now that we are in the process of electing a president, our dollars should stay at home, taking care of our poor—and we have plenty of poor here. Some of our leaders are too focused on Ukraine. If they intend to cage a tiger for adoption, it will only last as a showpiece at the World Zoo. Let's not fall into the deep end whoever becomes our elected leader. Remember the saying charity begins at home. Support the poor and needy in our community: A Commentary from the desk of Kenvil Atkins Lewis.
