God is a Ghost

God is a Ghost

God is a Ghost
An ungrateful host
Who clouds the minds of many
And leaves none for plenty

They say he is all powerful and all good
Yet, there are young black men shot dead in our neighborhood

They say loving others is his guarantee
But so many die of incurable disease

They say to speak with him, talk to your pastor
But so many can’t because of natural disaster

They say to be saved, you must love thy nemesis
While countries are at war because they don’t know the difference between genocide and genesis

Existence is a very rude party
I don’t blame those who want to leave their body
And if God were currently in practice
Don’t you think he would stop all of this?

God is a Ghost
An ungrateful host
And if God were here, I’m sure he’d be in appall
Maybe, he wasn’t even here at all.
