MAGPIE...

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Jan 26, 2020

"I watch you Magpie, as you go about your busy day,
high up in the treetops, as in the cold wind, branches sway.
It's deep into winter with glistening snow on the ground,
I listen to your chatter...a comforting, reassuring sound.
I count..One for sorrow, two for joy,
a song I've been singing, since I was a small boy.
I watch you Magpie, up in the evergreen tree,
I can see you so clearly...but you can't see me."

Hi Frank, I occasionally drop by to read the lovely poems written by my good friends, and was happy to come across this little gem of yours, my experience with the Magpie hasn't always been pleasant, if not for the protection of a small branch I might be missing an eye!

Cecilia it's lovely to hear from you.....I watch a pair of magpies from our kitchen window (as I'm washing the dishes 😱haha)......they are crafty, clever birds...always interesting to watch....sorry to hear of your fight with a magpeye....(see what I did there)...hope you're having a good start to the year after those horrific fires that have been devastating your beautiful country....stay safe and bless pondrin with another of your lovely poems soon....👍🏻
