Thanksgiving Meditation

poem by: Jeanne Fiedler
Written on Nov 22, 2014

The leaves float
downward and drift
as they do and
fall into place
bringing structure
to my life

I let my mind
wander just a
little bit to
bring me to a more
transcendent place

There are harsh
judgements and
racism in the world
for sure
I can't deny it
upsets me
but I have my
senses about me
and presence of
mind

I am thankful
for the beauty
of autumn and the
colorful mirth of
nature bringing
the seeds of winter
back into another
cycle

Winter is like a
pencil drawing,
the outlines filled
in and fruitful,
instead of barren,
the way people
interpret it
The seasons parallel
the cycles of our
lives - each one
a part of the whole

I give thanks today
for all I have -
a home, good food,
a check, health and
always, the Source's
presence bringing me
to love and understanding
