Why must my race define me

Why must my race define me?

For many people the color of my skin is what defines their judgement of me.

They take one look and already the first thought is, "different"

Different being not normal but deviant.

For many people race is held to the standard of being one's only identity measurement.

They assume I am from another country because I am not white nor the, "same"

Non-white meaning not just one color and the, "same" meaning the, "other"

I ask in strong curiosity why does my race define me?

Why must I be the one to be outcasted rather than included?

Why must I be the one to not have a voice but merely a presence?
