Tell me....

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Aug 13, 2018

"Tell me that you love me dad...say it in my sleep,
please, let me hear you say it once dad,
it will be a treasure that I will keep.
I'd still love to hear those words dad,
even though you've been long gone...'come, and give me a hug lad,'
come here my precious son.'
Tell me quietly in a dream dad, it's something I've never heard,
I want to 'feel' you in my ear dad....I need to know that once you really cared.
Please tell me that you loved me dad, in a dream, you'll have to come,
just say that you loved us both dad...then I'll whisper it to my mum."

Even as a 30-year-old man, I would like to hear my dad say it to me now... Makes me smile. but with an air of sadness. Good poem. I liked it very much.
