We're ok...

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Jul 24, 2018

"As our bodies slowly age, there are a few noticeable points,
like gradually fading eyesight....and too many aching joints.
Looking closely at each other, we often hear ourselves say,
"are you alright love?... are you ok?"
Tablets for something are swallowed each...and every day,
"Have you still got that migraine girl?...are you sure that you're ok?"
Now not as agile as we once used to be...so on go the glasses to help us to see,
I suppose growing older there is a price we all have to pay,
"How's your bad back lad?... are you ok?"
In sickness, and in health, at the altar we both made our vow,
well the time has come to honour... those special words now.
Arthritic joints are swollen, little pills keep the pain at bay,
"I'll go and put the kettle on girl...are you sure that you're ok?
A lifetime of caring.... in our own loving way,
we will never stop asking,..."are you ok?"
When we turn off the light....in bed so tired we lay,
whispering quietly to each other, "goodnight god bless"...yes we are both ok."

Sweet. Love this, and having just recently bought my first ever pair of reading glasses, I can relate! Nice, beautiful words.
