Your Heartbeat Mine

poem by: Theresa Taylor
Written on Jun 11, 2018

Your heartbeat mine
No turn of phrase, no rhyme
could describe
how I've never felt so far from heaven
shadows are closing in
so far from grace
For me the fight isn't over
the scent of you lingers on my pillowcase
I struggle to remember
what time want's to erase
I won this pain
and earned this heartache
The trophy of my pride in deep embrace
You lost your best years to this thief!
I'm the champion you see.....
even though your heartbeats mine
everytime
