Along came a spider....

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Apr 27, 2018

"Creeping across our proud City, so quietly in the dead of night,
spinning her web so silently, don't look up you might get a fright!
Then when it's time for her to feed, down onto the streets she will crawl,
one unlucky drunk, is all she will need, nobody will hear his muffled call.
When the new day eventually dawns, somewhere sleeping, she will safely be,
and as we do our stretches, and yawns, there she'll be waiting patiently.
At the end of her stay, she will multiply, her work finally done,
hundreds of spiders will darken our sky, then suddenly!....she will be gone."

"La Princesse"....a Gigantic mechanical spider, walked through my City of Liverpool,
as part of the City's celebration of European Capital of culture for 2008.....

My uncle Steve was a bit of an arthropod buff. Used to let me hold deadly tarantulas in my hands. never bothered me either. I don't think "la princess" would bother me. I would probably ask if I could help her lure more people to her den haha.
