THE CONFESSIONAL BOX

Stepping inside the confessional box a child whispered Bless me father
Head bow low the child continues that speech for I have sinned
I confess to almighty God and too you father
Father the child said I have lied and I have fought
Father I have cursing Looking up the priest said when my child
Almost every day said the child God is against that my child the priest said
You must do penance for your sin today Go say three Hail Mary’s
Two act of constructions one our father
Solemnly the child redrew out of the confessional box to the nearby pew
Kneeling down the child retrieve a rosary chanting a familiar chant
The minutes flew by as the child begs for forgiveness on the rosary
Thinking that the Lord had absorbed the wrong that was done yesterday
With hands on the forehead next on the chest right shoulder then left
The holy child step out waiting for Sunday’s mass to seal the deal
Now free of sin yes to seal the deal the bread and wine must be divine
One week later that same child walk into that same confessional box stepping inside the confessional box a child whispered bless me father
