Tattered Wings

poem by: D'Vina Dietrich
Written on Oct 24, 2017

Tucked away in her chrysalis
She was safe and sound
Blossoming and growing

Excitement to meet the world
She cracked it open and bursted out
Thunder sounded and lightning struck

Rain poured down on her
She wanted to fly so badly
Yet she plummeted to the ground

She soon felt regret
The cold ground her only comfort
She began to drown

She never pictured it like this
She imagined soaring high
and kissing the clouds.

The storm stole her dreams.
How would she ever fly
With tattered wings?

Sad but true on so many levels. Though, to answer the question presented in the last two stanzas, I'd say yes. We fall, we rise. We're sad, we're happy. Every down has an up. Every Fall has a rise. Believe it or not. She will fly, with difficulty, but she will.

We too were once cocooned in the womb, but we had to be born and face the reality of life, and somehow even with tattered wings we manage to survive~brilliant.

An interesting read. Life poses many trials where we rise and fall but we keep on trying until we get where we want to be or we re-evaluate and move on. Janet
