What is The Point?

poem by: Candace Cox
Written on Jan 17, 2014

Like a photographer who's lost her sight
Like the sun, shining in the night
There is no purpose
There is no light

A dove with no song
Just looks great
A heart without love
Is full of hate

Who has working feet
But does not stand?
Who has wings
And stays on land?

Where has hope gone?
How can you possibly keep on?
In this world where it's popular to die
How can you manage to stay alive?

What point do you serve?
What faith do you reserve?

The answer that comes to my mind is that we live on for our children, well done
George McLaren commented:
Candace what a sad, pensive emotive poem. It is beautiful as pain is an integral part of our lives, no escape. The poem raises many questions, a searching. the answer is always just there. God; Love; Being. Whatever name. And it is Beautiful.George
Janet Vick commented:
I have felt like this a time or two but I found grand children make it worth while to keep on stepping forward. Great and sad write. Janet
Peter Duggan commented:
Wonderful poem you have written here though I feel much sadness in it. I believe that the purpose of life is to live it, every bit o it, with it's joy and sorrows too. It is your story and only you can live it. I enjoyed this poem very much...Peter
Patricia Wilton-King commented:
so emotive but I do believe we are all here for a reason, everyone has a talent of some form or another, find it, enjoy it, share it, it will make you happy.
ann parks commented:
thanks for this....I can't change the whole world but I can help those in my little sphere. Ann
Steven Kincaid commented:
oversimplified and lacks substance
Elizabeth Ladji commented:
Pedestrian and flat. Needs to be developed.
