BEATLEMANIA..

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Sep 09, 2017

"They shook up the whole world, with their great music,
and Liverpool good looks,
completely rewriting, the musical history books.
The four bubbly, young scousers with a sound so utterly unique,
also taught the rest of world ..the Scouse way, to speak.
From the moment that I first saw them, on tv, singing...Love me do,
It was so obvious they were something special, i knew, yes we all knew,
Very soon "Beatlemania," was a pandemic...that the whole world would eventually get, and the noise of the infected girls screaming, reached the same decibels as a Jumbo jet!
Us young lads all grew "Moptops," to look just like the Fab Four,
we all happily caught "Beatlemania," ...and nobody wanted a cure.
For almost ten glorious years, there was no known antidote,
we all loved the Beatlemania, and the amazing songs that the lads wrote.
I'm now Sixty eight years young, and Beatle music is still ever so rife,
for the last fifty six long years....Beatlemania has happily enriched my life!"

I was never a big fan of the Beatles, but growing up in that era the connection is there, our carefree days of youth, before reality set in... a very well constructed poem Frank.

Shake it up baby...twist and shout........the first single I ever bought was Hard day's night ....cost 5 shillings to buy (in London anyway)......my fave Beatles song ? Do I only get one choice? OK it's Don't let me down (on the roof with Billy Preston).

Great choice of Beatle songs Ann...👍🏻...when I first saw them on our local TV news programme ...I was 13yrs old...and instantly wanted a "mop top" just like theirs...by the time I was 14...I had one!...but one of the teachers made me sit with the girls at morning assembly...(I was gutted..😜😂)....thanks for your comment Ann..
