A Breath of Fresh air....

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Aug 03, 2017

"Hooray! For the ban, on the obnoxious cigarette,
the best decision, our government's made yet.
Now we can all eat in a restaurant, or pub,
without smelly smoke contaminating our lovely grub.
No more asking politely, but to no avail,
"Please, do you mind stubbing out that horrible coffin nail?
Trying to enjoy a pint, but really feeling sick,
because of the deadly poison, from someone's cancer stick!
No more coming home from a choking smoke filled hell,
my clothing, and hair will no longer stink with a sickly smell,
It's like a breath of fresh air!....now I'm such a very happy man,
like I've said once before, Hip, Hip, Hooray! for the cigarette ban."

Cecilia Crasto commented:
Your writing is always like a breath of fresh air Frank, my son has made many attempts to give up this toxic addiction, but always goes back, he has the decency to go out and smoke when he visits, hope it's banned for good!
Roxanne Dubarry commented:
I am not a cigarette smoker. It is not illegal in the States of Washington and Oregon. You are allowed to smoke within 25 feet of buildings. Many apartments are "becoming smoke-free". Certain parks ban it altogether. The Everett Station also has a no smoking policy. It probably is not regulated in several states. The tobacco industry probably still has some clout. They can't advertise on the television, but can in print books and magazines.
