On that stretch from home to office every day, so many passers-by scurry, Some slow, some moderately paced, and some running in an unknown hurry The bikers overtake, so do the rickshaw drivers, As if they are competing alone and not with each other The buses honk hard, the trucks no less tend to over speed, It’s that way humans are driven, by their natural instinct and humongous greed What a commotion I observe on road, a reflection of the one inside, I experience unload A sense of rivalry uncomprehended, unnecessary and uncalled, That keeps my inner quest stranded and stalled I ponder isn’t that so, even in the lives accompanying me on this journey, Why are we all competing at all, engaged in a futile tourney When the fight is actually with our inner selves Let’s just identify that and come up with a plan to delve Let’s build a mood this New Year, with a pledge to extend more than mere Deny saying ‘no’ as a practice often preached, Instead nodding an ‘yes’ as an affirmation unanimously achieved That way we will be freed of all commotions inside, Smiles will linger on faces around, cherished as memoirs of a beautiful stride.
