It's no joke...

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on May 26, 2017

"Our city is losing its humour,
because of strangers who can't seem to smile,
we are not used to these miserable faces,
because misery is just not our style.
Our city is losing its humour,
it's drowning in a negative wave,
people no longer exchange "banter"
more laughter is what we all crave.
Our city is losing its humour,
glum faces just blank you, and stare,
they can't understand what we are saying,
and to be honest...I don't think that they care.
Our city is losing its humour,
It's going at an incredible rate,
if we all don't try, and do something about it,
it will be gone, and then .....it's too late."

Lovely poem Frank.people are so serious in this day and age.what happened to all those Eccentrics and characters.
Cecilia Crasto commented:
It's the busyness of life Frank, and have you noticed the young ones staggering around, eyes fixed on their phones oblivious to their surrounds, just crazy, good that we can still smile, have fun and write poetry...well done.
