Fledglings..

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Mar 11, 2017

"Six little blue tits, perched high upon a twig,
puffing out their brand new feathers, to make themselves look big,
each one of them deciding, if it's time to leave the nest.
So one by one, into the air, bravely five gave their wings a test,
but the sixth little blue tit, gave out a desperate sigh,
"I haven't got the nerve to jump mum, because I don't think I can fly!"
"Just close your eyes, and take the plunge,"
his mum yelled 'til she was hoarse,
so off he went with a flap of his little wings, and nature took its course."

Agree with you frank. Frankly, most poets like us wish we could fly freely.

Compact and well structured, with your usual sense of fun and humor which is so infectious, there is always one that refuses to leave the nest, others go and keep coming back, so now we know what to do~love it.

Thanks Taha, thank you Cecilia.....imagine being able to fly!..WOW!....those little birds gave me so much pleasure...watching them hatch, grow, then learn to fly....all made possible by their mum......that's what mums are for..xx..

yes, the little fat birds flapping... I raised Quails a long time ago. they were always stupidly overconfident and curious. Wish they were a bit more like this little one for a while :D

Thank you Heyoka....reading and commenting on my poem...those little birds were back nesting again this year......I like to think it was that sixth little blue tit raising its own little brood............love your poetry mate..👍🏻...
