Time to go Daddy

poem by: Zonisha Brown
Written on Aug 20, 2016

You were three when you last saw your daddy.
You saw him leave a diaper bag then leave.
You Cried in your mommy’s arms.

You saw your daddy again on christmas and smiled.
You hugged him before leaving.
You saw him waving goodbye on a train.

You saw your daddy slip away.
You saw him inhale drugs.
You sat at his funeral.

You said “Time to go daddy” and cried.
You had nightmares.
You felt guilt.
You wanted your dad back.
You wanted one last goodbye.
You cried.
