The State

poem by: Mike Undlin

O brave new world
Trigger finger gently curled
The dream is a thing of the past

Isn't it ironic
While launching supersonic
We've entered the time to fast

Praying on fear
That artless future here
The extremes are narrow yet vast

Reality isn't real
They tell us how to feel
The mould has already been caste

A life of pamper
Myopic lemmings scamper
The edifice wasn't built to last

Years become hours
Memories beset towers
The flag now flying half-mast

O brave new world
Trigger finger gently curled
The dream is a thing of the past
