My Dear Mum

To admire, to aspire, to the light of my world
A font of all knowledge, a wise owl to be heard
Who says “as it is”, with favour and grace
My mother of course, in number one place.

No one could ask for the love that she gives
It comes from the heart, deep from within
No judgement or scorn, no wrath from above
She gives, never takes, unconditional love.

I confide when I’m down, any subject allowed
Can tell her my woes, my fears when I frown
She comforts my doubts, and gives me the strength
To face a new day, whatever the length.

The world has been blessed with a wonderful “gal”
That believes in the right to stand strong and tall
She holds her head proud and faces the world
Damning the wrong doers, the crooks and the fools

She grieves for the sorrow, the hurt and the tears
The plight of the needy, their struggles, their fears
She would give her last dinner, the breath that she’s got
To comfort, to nurture, to make good what’s not

The future of children lay deep in her heart
The poor lost souls that haven’t a chance
She values her time in three score plus ten
But cant turn back time to help them again

Words don’t express the way that I feel
The love for my mum is ever so real
I value the moments I give her a hug
And to tell her I love her……….and I truly do.
