A Rhythm Each Line

poem by: Samantha Johnson
Written on May 13, 2015

On all fours it was for sure
One day I’d get up off the floor
Shaking steps way too unsure
I wonder what this life is for

The world it crumbles inside me
Bruised with fates inadequacy
I struggle and I strain to see
The veiled truth surrounding me

Cold and shivering in the storm
Can’t keep safe can’t keep warm
Sitting in a seat well worn
Waiting to be tossed and torn

The candle has burnt out it’s flame
We’re stuck inside an endless game
It’s all a bit too much the same
It’s all a bit way to insane

Fell out of my feathered nest
Failed the journey failed the test
I clawed my way to be the best
Now I bow to your requests

So here I am a product line
Waiting out my turn in kind
Beg to leave this life behind
Blanking out the rest of time
