Stars We Are

poem by: Samantha Johnson
Written on May 12, 2015

A cosmic dance a star is born just like you and me
Existing in this time and space for future history
Gazing up the sun has set the stars are shining bright
Tiny beams light years away illuminate the night

And the stars know who we are they twinkle in our eyes
Close them tight and make a wish keep it safe inside
And the stars know who we are into our hearts they see
As we sign our names in stardust across the galaxy

Yellow dots peek through the dark in infinite array
Satellites fly through the sky across the Milky Way
Balls of gas mysteriously ignite and burn through time
Randomly predictable so carefully aligned

Nothing last for ever in its present form
The moment that a star is dead a supernova’s born
