Ride The Wave

poem by: Samantha Johnson
Written on May 12, 2015

The noise invades my head the sound is all around
No escape from the evil rising from the ground
Booming is its bellow it makes my stomach ache
It seeps into my brain where it plans to overtake
Leaving nothing sacred and insidious it’s reach
Feeding on my lonely fears planting its roots deep
My senses all but numb as darkness drapes in black
No choice but ride the wave there’s no going back
Thought I’d seen it all the terror and the pain
Blind to the real world and the pitfalls of the game
Then it seems to creep inside and gives a little kick
Holds my heart in its throat and makes me feel sick
The sound is all around it’s all that I can hear
Until there is nothing left but the emptiness I fear
