Birth To Death

poem by: Samantha Johnson
Written on May 12, 2015

Blood flows new
Wild eyes race
Sparkling clean
Erase all trace

The inside scoop
Learn and grow
Pass the test
Earn that dough

Feed the hungry
Save the ill
Dichotic solution
Prescribe a pill

You idle rough
Engine stops
As power drains
In drips and drops

Decisions tough
Emotions swell
We all relate
To surviving hell

All will seek
Some will find
Those that don’t
Get left behind

The convert sighs
His compass lost
Burning out
At enormous cost

Birth to death
Is what we get
As we float between
Awake and dream

A life not ours
Freedoms mask
Pay your tax
And keep on task

Here we are
For all to see
So you be you
And I’ll be me
