Life In My Bomb Shelter

poem by: Anthony Blake
Written on Mar 20, 2025

My sanctuary
A dark painful resting place
Alarm strikes collide

Socialization
An alignment or betrayed
Broken glass to hold

Love that can not be
An eclectic perfection
Dancing in the sand

Found lost and confused
Hungry for someone to care
Survivor, feel dead

Blue eyes tear stained red
Together, decades apart
An old foolish heart

Lonely in the dark
Can you see, can you reach me
Lonely in the light

We’re always broken
Loving that doesn’t exist
Living in the dark

Your love burns and scars
The heat of your desert heart
Layers peeled away

Meet me in the dark
An imaginary love
Love fades as light comes
