BROOKFIELD SCHOOL...

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Nov 26, 2021

"I really loved time spent at "Brooky"...my old Kirkby high school...
I was always an interested pupil..trying to abide by their strict rule..
all through my learning years...I tried so hard from the very start..
enjoying the practical in woodwork....and loving my lessons in art..
I was always in the "A" stream...never ever dropped below...
and often getting into trouble....for things you don't need to know...
the punishment was sometimes brutal....with six lashes of the teachers cane..
alas I never seemed to learn...as it happened again, and again!...
but the cane done me no harm...although bringing me close to tears..
...and it never stopped me loving...my final Brookfield years."
