The child was dead. There is no doubt about that; it would be not even a slight possibility that it was, in fact alive. If it did so happen that this creature still walked about the earth, its dainty limbs creating little to no sound, the family would not have been so moped – all of them dragging their feet; even little Charlie, the newest addition whom was so little as a babe. Oh no, the family would have been so much alight, had this child been around – yet it wasn’t, as they felt the loss as though their entirety of soul had been ripped from their chests and feasted upon by a demon. The sole raiser and founder of the family united had long gone; running away into the darkness of night as the children remaining lay peacefully in their beds, oblivious. Sometimes, dear Reader, the loss and deprivation of a certain person means the loss of another; not always in death but in memory and in position. This man, a powerful and greedy fellow, felt the loss as a blow to the back of the head; yet he was not close to the child, oh no, this child was a terror! the sole reason that this family found themselves swimming within Tally! Yet they loved him with a fire ablaze. I would not dare go so far as to say their lives revolved around that Child but surely the vision of their hump-backed slouches shows you this? With the loss of the Child, and shortly following the loss of a Father, the family became so desolate and empty one could simply place anything upon them; and they would take it. Why else would a Father flee an inamorata he once loved so dearly that he proposed a marriage to her? Now, if this creature still walked about the abundant, diverse earth as we know it to be, a family so torn apart would most correctly fallen to their knees; with their dainty, chapped lips pressed to the dust and their hands raised to the heavens in joy despite their faith being much destroyed at the way their ‘God’ took their Child into his arms. Let us say a spirit of some sort decided that the torture of an entire family was to torturous for even the King of Hell to look upon; and He decided to return the Child to the family, would that ending be sufficient enough for such a fairy-tale as the one you expect? Well let me issue this warning, dear Reader, most often the things we want are out of reach and the stools we expect to carry us upwards only make us further from our goals.
