Litha 2014

poem by: Andy Wilden
Written on Dec 21, 2014

Raging fires and summer flame,
To honor you and call your name.
From the highest peek the sun does burn,
And so in like does the wheel of life turn.

Ignite my soul horned one and see energy raise,
With song and dance, my arms lifted in praise.
Grant me the strength to honor your rite,
And surround my circle with passion and light.

Delight in the day, rejoice in the summer feast,
Raise your energy, pumpernickel bread with yeast.
Join in the celebrations the long harvest is done,
Rejoice in the masculine power, empowering sun.

A clash through the forest, the titans do engage,
Holly king and oak king, with fervor and rage.
Over light and dark only one king can rule,
Is not to be for the oak king who rules at Yule.

Life and abundance, natures gift a blessed bloom,
For the days to the darkening we'll meet soon.
Hail to the God, thrusting deep within the earth,
Hail to the Goddess, a beginning new birth.

Nymphs they scatter, Pan is on the prowl,
Surely as at the full moon, where wolves do howl.
Sun at its zenith, the power of the God invoked,
Blessed on this sacred day, divine masculine yoked.

So sing your songs, and drink your ale,
Raise your mugs and uncover your veil.
Reds, and golds, all colours of sun's hue,
Of negative and ill, we'll abstain and eschew.

So light your candles and chant your spells,
Resonate your crystals, with prayer and with bells.
Blessings and peace, on this mid summer’s day,
Love and light, and prosperity I pray.
