Aimlessly Adrift

poem by: Michael Wise
Written on Mar 23, 2018

Disconnected from the people
and the things that I hold dear
On a course through time and space
I wonder what I'm doing here

Black miasma overwhelms me
paralyzing life and mind
I feel like I'm the piece that's missing
from a puzzle I can't find

Cold stagnation ever seeping
ever creeping in my soul
All my yearnings and my longings
keep me in this deep dark hole

With the knowledge that I'm drowning
in a pool of my own fear
Aimlessly adrift, I wonder
what the hell I'm doing here
