Heyoka

poem by: Smokey Wraith
Written on Feb 25, 2018

Something stirs
In the clouds
Lightning cracks
Strong and loud
One man stands
Amidst the storm
Drenched in rain
Hardly warm
Shivering weak
He looks above
There descending
Like a dove
A giant figure
Like a bird
Flaps of wings
Can be heard
Time stops moving
The storm dies out
The clouds part
And the sun comes out
The man is different
From up and down
No longer man
A sacred clown

Hmmm, A story of metamorphosis. "A sacred Clown"... Is this what he wanted? how he views himself or how others view him? That's the only part I think didn't really fit. Maybe you're talking about Kanye West? or Donald Trump? Maybe even a comedian? Or maybe the fool of a relationship that has ended?... Sorry Smokey, I really can't tell what the end is about. Good poem though. I enjoyed it :)

I enjoyed the poem, but got a little confused about the sacred clown.

Lovely poem Smokey........I used to love (still do)....the Sioux, Apache natives of North America.......hated them being exploited by the early white settlers......✌🏻...

To those confused about the sacred clown part. Do a little research on Heyokas and their relationships with the Thunderbirds that's what this poems about

OMG, Why did I not know about these people? I love how much you can learn by reading poetry. Thank you, guys. I think I might be a hayoka. I'm definately a clown. Either way, I just found my new user name. PTSD is so Cliche.

I like this poem a lot although I would tag it sacred imagery rather than dark. Very nice thank you

Eternal Night

Darkness swirls around the abyss. Nightmares like tendrils clutch at air. Hard to breathe, impossible to speak all you can manage is a whisper in your mind. No one can hear you, no one can save you as you tumble down...down...down... ... Read more
