Purple and Grey

poem by: Sappho Damnus
Written on Nov 08, 2017

She was purple and I was grey,
I never liked purple before that day.
Her amber eyes awoke something within,
Her uncouth charm lured me in.
Her straight faced misplaced expressionless lips,
I cherished like the ugly beauty marks relinquished to her hips.
She awoke me to a nightmare and we cavorted in the dusk,
Addicted to her mouth of poison, fixated to her lust.
We were miles from love we cascaded into obsession,
I was her curse of curses, she was my blessing.
A bittersweet goodbye haunts me with the words I should have said,
But I let you go without knowing them instead.
She was purple and I was grey,
I hated purple until that day.
