AUTUMN'S LAST DANCE

poem by: John Pegg
Written on Jun 08, 2017

It is an almost celestial sunrise, the world awakening to a brilliant, wondrous dawn.
A blue sky with white clouds turned to fire by the sun's bright illuminating rays,
And by this light the autumn trees are turned to burnished gold and copper metals.
In the coolness, leaves slowly pirouette in one last dance to lie forlorn on the dew kissed lawn.
Summer silently takes one last breath and surrenders her long warm days
And gives way relunctantly to lingering mists as Autumn's season settles on the land.

Author's note. Inspired by the light and colour when viewing my garden on an autumn's morning.
