I Want My Secrets Back

poem by: RW Lem
Written on May 30, 2017

I want my secrets back.
Every word that dripped from my mouth into yours.
Every syllable I cried into your shoulder.

You took my life and spit it out like sunflower seeds.
Shirts were washed and tears forgotten.

I want back my middle name
My zodiac sign
My home address.

I want my deepest fear,
My favorite ice cream flavor.

I want back what you took from me.
What I willingly supplied you with.

Your love is like a lit cigarette and my final drag had burned too long.
All I received was ash and smoke and charred lungs,
While I watch you breathing meadow air.

I want my secrets back, but I sure as hell don't want you.
