You Were There

poem by: Jenny Linsel
Written on Apr 25, 2017

I was at my lowest ebb
Full of fear and despair
All i needed was a friendly ear
Someone to show they cared

I had no-one to turn to
Then i discovered you
You helped me face my greatest fears
Thank god that you were there

You were there to help me through my darkest days
You were there to help me in so many ways
You were there and made me strong to face the world
When i needed help the most you were there

I felt no-one understood
The bad memories in my head
You were there to listen
No words were left unsaid

I felt so much better
Voicing all my fears
They’d haunted me for so long
I thank god that you were there

Now i feel so much better
Less sad thoughts in my head
My attitude is positive
Bad memories left behind

You helped me more than you’ll ever know
My mind is now at rest
I’ll be forever grateful you were there
