Still Waiting

poem by: Gerry Legister

Every sixty seconds spent waiting,
On the reality to obtain better promises,
Could be a minute of inheritance gone?
Never to come back and take some chances.

And more time may elapse after still waiting,
And you may grow faint and weary,
But preserved confidence in expecting,
The fulfillment of a promise to make you happy.

Keep waiting to inherit those promises,
For this is what the virtue of patience implied,
If we believe, faith preserves appearances,
To see the glory for which others has died.

Find a way for the quality of today to begin,
Letting go of the past is not going to be easy,
But you can learn how to turn on the lights within,
Stand together, and refuse to give in completely.

You may be sitting awake in the dark still waiting,
To be release, as the person you are claiming to be,
The solitude of memory remembers everything,
In the end, all the secret times belongs only to me.

Don’t be afraid of the darkness or what’s in it,
I am not afraid of heights or the pain falling,
I am still waiting to try again after getting hurt,
Rejection starts the maturity of mountain climbing.

On a trail where attitude determines your altitude,
Patiently waiting when you have nothing to lose,
Strength finds the cure on which you must decide,
The gift of life is yours with no apology or excuse.

The waiting goes on around the next corner,
Watching the mirror reflect silent glimpse of myself,
This amazing journey is responsible for every hour,
Always passing the enterprises that I felt.

The world we are in, we’re never too old to dream,
About the opportunities, others have left behind,
Our life sees the possibility everywhere in a vision
So, enjoy romance, and any success you may find.

On cloudy days, I am still waiting for my sun to shine,
If it is meant to be, the light will soon be a smile,
To let everyone, know that today is mine,
And tomorrow, the beautiful things may take a while.
