When My Heart Starts Talking

poem by: Paul Stephens
Written on Apr 18, 2017

We all get caught up in our lives
Doing what we believe is best
We lose the sight of the important things
Then it's to late to make amends

It's easy to over analyse
To try and shift the blame
All we can do is try to learn
Not to repeat those mistakes again

I've lived through the pain of loneliness
Something brought on by myself
I needed time to reassess
Not to share with anyone else

Once my mum had left the room
Something started to occur
My heart started talking direct to me
Encouraging my return

I put behind all the wrongs
Deciding to move on
I thought I'd listen to my heart
I knew it could do me no real wrong

Who would of thought that would take me here
To this happy place
I didn't think it would exist in my life
I was broken beyond repair

I've become a true believer
That when your heart sends out a call
You need to listen with intent
It will change your life forever more
