Bound Souls

poem by: Lilly Ellison
Written on Apr 02, 2017

In a world with so much hate
It can be hard to see it's beauty
We often don't appreciate
The Earth; to Her is our duty

All of what does make us human
We lose sight of things, you see
We give up on our improvements
And we blindly act like sheep

As life goes on and we become more blind
We are eventually entrapped by fear
But step out of your mind, be nothing but kind
And perhaps we'll get back to the clear

Our souls need more than what society can offer
But we're bound by these laws that are secretly making us suffer
We must each take charge if we wish to be free
It is quite a large task, but it is nicer to see
