The Darkness....

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Feb 22, 2017

"Slowly in a deathly silence, doors begin to close,
Sealing chambers within the mind, why? God only knows.
Light is finally extinguished, in each, and every room,
never to be switched on again, forever left in gloom.
The darkness is overwhelming, no daylight, only night,
dementia shows no mercy, as the mind gives up the fight."

Wow. You have described this so perfectly and poignantly. My friend's mother is slowly sinking from dementia, and it's quite a sad thing.

....thank you Michael....we watched my wife's sister gradually succumb to dementia over a period of time........heartbreaking to see her deteriorating to the point of not knowing any of her loving family.....she was a beautiful woman.........I feel for your friend......and his mother....
