When The Penny Drops...

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Feb 19, 2017

"I used to complicate my life with trivial all sorts,
and confuse my own mind with negative thoughts.
I cared for no one, there was just only me,
nobody else mattered, as far as I could selfishly see,
then alone in my cold house, my tears did start to fall,
when it suddenly hit home, I was going to lose it all....my wife,
my child, did I really want to be "free"?
They were both slipping away, and it was all down to me.
The words in the sad song, almost made my heart stop,
and it was right there, and then, that "the penny" did drop,
it was Black Sabbath singing "Changes," and changes I quickly had to make,
I had to turn my life around, for my loving family's sake.
That was when I was young, and my world nearly stopped,
thank god I took notice when,...the penny finally dropped."
