THE BATTLE

poem by: Steven Godfrey
Written on Jan 24, 2017

Positivity has eluded me for a good while now,
A silent illness , society doesn't allow ,
If only more people understood ,
Instead of being judgemental and down right rude .

It is a stigma that gets attached to you ,
Some mock and laugh , if only they knew ,
Fighting a battle mostly in stealth
Does not discriminate your race ,religion or wealth .

To defeat feelings inside may be a lifelong battle ,
Doctors give out medication ,dont shake or you will rattle,
Try never to discard someone who is feeling depressed
Your compassion and kindness is like a gentle caress,

When dark thoughts enter your head ,
Try to open up things need to be said ,
Reach out to someone any one you can,
Life is precious ,sadly it comes with no plan .
