I wonder

I can’t explain the feeling I get, every time I hear her voice.
It’s a chill down my spine, a wave crashing over my mind.
Butterflies in my stomach, I feel so immature.
This love feels like a sickness; I just can’t find the cure.
For something so uncertain, I’ve never been so sure.

I think of you often; truthfully almost always.
I reminisce on the days where I would pass you in the hallways.
Maybe we wouldn’t speak, things were so up and down it changed every week.
But even just the sight of you would make me feel alright.
Do you ever think of me when you lay in bed at night?

The hardest part is the unknown. Hoping for something deep inside that you’ve never shown.
I can’t help but wonder, why you always came back, if nothing you said was ever based on fact.
Was it the convenience? Or was it meaningless?
It’s crazy to think how long we’ve done this dance.
Asking God to give me just one more chance.

They tell me I deserve better, sadly, I know I can’t believe it. Not now, not ever.
I tell myself she’s everything I need and more, it’s no big deal that she kills me at my core.
Every mistake she makes, I tell myself that’s okay, one day I will change her, that’ll be the day.
Scared that one day I will wake up, with feelings of regret. 6 full years, she doesn’t want me yet.
I wonder to myself at night, what more could I have done right.

Arch Angel commented:
I think if you remove cliches the poem would be much better. Also, add more imagery, similes or metaphors. It's good though.
Chris Cleverly commented:
Nice poem, its refreshing to see someone just write without the so called rules looming over them. good stuff!
Edward shields commented:
You can't make any one love you. Poem of regret!
