Driving down the avenue, another typical night, Of peoples hustle, cars darting, and slow turning traffic lights. Down the corner of Bergen, was a burgeoning crowd, And despite all around them, they braved a black veiled shroud. It was again another tragic loss, all too common yet true, So, I was compelled to pull over to get a closer view. And as I walk down Bergen, a heaviness begot me, So much despair, crying; stunned was we. Another of Newark’s son has lost his life. Oh my God, it's his birthday... Why Lord...why?! Here we are again; where did we go wrong? I have faith in our people we are great, proud and strong.
