Manny

poem by: Owen Cullimore
Written on Nov 14, 2016

Manny was a soldier boy
Fought for his county so far away
Always hoping he would stay safe
And be home again someday
But a snipers bullet ricocheted
It hit him in the chest
And he thanked God he was on his side
Because he was wearing his bullet proof vest
The pain he felt was hard to bear
But at least alive was he
For many of his friends had found
This might not always be
The outcome to this situation
Their lives were always on the line
But thank god in this instance
Manny would end up fine
War is never easy
The blood and gore a horrible sight
But this made Manny and his compatriots
Always ready for the fight
