You Are

poem by: Lyella Lewis
Written on Oct 28, 2016

Oblivious people pass you by,
tattered shoes, unwashed skin,
well worn clothes, unkempt hair,
swaying shuffling your battered feet,
a caged bird hopping on it's perch,
children hiss with spiteful words,
entertained audiences wait for buses,
amused at your show of disturbing habits,
robotic crowds rush right past
No time to stop
No time to ask
mechanical minds ahead of each task
register nothing of the human being
You Are.
