Painful Realization

poem by:

Inescapable pain, wreaking havoc on my every joint,
No relief, at least not for now, I think you get the point.
Prescribe me this or prescribe me that, please make it go away,
24 hours later, still writhing in pain, just waiting for another day.
To arrive, much sooner than later, as no sleep is to be found,
Like having your foot set on fire, and no hydrant is around.
The slightest touch to my foot, gives the feeling of fractured bone,
With no relief in sight, and the world asleep I feel so alone.
Pain is the great equalizer, and for many there is no cure,
Even with companies like Pfizer, still no products to help us endure.
When you see someone on the street, and they aren't in the greatest mood,
Before you judge their life incomplete, treat them gently without being rude.
We all have battles to fight, for sure, none of us are in the promised land,
Until the magic inside ignites, showing empathy and offering a helping hand.
