Faithful Felines

poem by:
Written on Sep 07, 2016

As I arrive home, you are gazing at me from the window pane,
You are moved by my presence, like a flower about to receive rain.
When I open the front door, you are simply waiting on the other side,
I am your surrogate parent, and the symbolic leader of your pride.
You always show me affection, which always warms my heart,
I wish you could live forever, so we would never need to part.
You help me feel my highest highs, while removing my lowest low,
Regardless of the mood I am in, you respond and just seem to know.
Although you are unable to speak, we communicate just the same,
And when I make a mistake or two, you never conjure up blame.
Your beauty is unsurpassed, of all the creatures that I have ever known,
And even in my darkest moments, you make sure I am never truly alone.

** Dedicated to Stormy, Zoey, Gracie, Scooter, Sophie, and Baby
