Stern Note-to-Self

poem by: Siren Song
Written on Sep 02, 2016

You don't get to tell me that I am worthless.
You don't get to tell me that I'm stupid. That I'm ugly. That I'm not good enough. Never again will you make me feel weak, because this is where I teach myself how strong I can be. And when I look in the mirror, the image of my own face will no longer be accompanied by the sound of my own voice telling me that I'm not enough.

Geoffrey Brewer commented:
You have made another good point by giving your poem a surprising slant. I like the fact that you do not blame another for your situation.
