Small-time Poet

poem by: Christopher Russon
Written on Aug 24, 2016

Sitting down with my head in my hands
Thinking of a poem I thought was deep
It was on my mind till after midnight
I got tired and fell to sleep.

The poem I wrote on paper
I walked into a crowded room
I read it to the audiance
It went down like lead balloon.

So now I keep them simple,
As simple as can be
And if next time it fails
I will write them just for me.

The same thing happens to me, when I'm sleepless lines go through my mind, then I fall asleep and forget the words next day...nice poem.

Nice poem Christopher. Sometimes short and sweet gets the point across effectively, as you have done with this one.
Annie Kirby commented:
I write all my poem's for me, it is nice when people like them, but not necessary to my happiness. I like this one a lot!
Christopher Russon commented:
Thank you for your comment Annie. Some times I get writers block. So annoying.
Patrick Lean commented:
I like this poem Christopher. I know where your coming from. I don't write to please, you can't please everyone. I always have a pen and notebook by my bedside table. I find I write most of what I regard as my best writing in the early hours of the morning, say 2 or 3 am. My wife doesn't share my midnight creativity, I usually end up in the spare bedroom, ah the price we have to pay for inspirations.
Christopher Russon commented:
My wife doesn't share my love for poetry just like the rest of the famely. Mind you I do go on a bit about poems.
Christopher Russon commented:
