Search for Meaning

My body still lives on, but inside I have already died,
Life’s monotony, it seems, has taken me for my last ride.
Not even sure why this is, I can’t seem to figure it out,
One moment I wear a smile, the next one I wear a pout.
Live in the moment, they say, and happiness will appear,
But the trap is reinforced, it seems, repeating year after year.
Yesterday has passed, and the future is still out of reach,
Try your best not to worry about them, to you I will beseech.
Time waits for no one, it just drones on in the same old fashion,
Not caring where you are in life, so be sure to follow your passion.
Fate is a fickle bitch, almost always contradicting our nature,
Preventing us from who we are, not knowing our true life stature.
Is this all there is, what I’ve seen so far, and how will I ever know?
Is it just a dress rehearsal, I wonder, or an encore of life’s big show?
A production indeed, to say the least, of which we have no control,
Just placed on this planet, I fear, after life’s blueprints someone had stole.
Do our best, that’s all that we can do, seems there is nothing further to say,
Try to help one another, be loving I guess, in the hopes of finding our way.
So good luck to you all, in all that you do, in each and every endeavor,
If an answer is hiding, inside some locked switch, I hope you find the lever.
To unlock it all, and find your way, to a place where happiness lies,
Where peace comes to all, forever more, where loneliness finally dies.
