Someone's Child

poem by: Christopher Russon
Written on Apr 28, 2016

Do not ever worry
And do not ever fret
For I will keep you sheltered
From the cold and rain so wet.

No dreaded days to fear
The future seems so far away
And yet so very near
For now your world is one of play.

Yes I can hear your laughter
And I can see your tears
And lots of joy for us to share
With every changing year.

So let us walk life's rocky road
That is what I am here for
And I shall carry your heavy load
You need not worry anymore.

So like new flowers bloom
And like every passing day
The flame of youth comes soon
You leave and go your way.

It seems the time has come to go
With words that I must say
Before you leave, hear my plea
Just think about those childhood days.
